Trimax vs. Composites
Before you purchase a deck, no matter what type of material it is, Trimax Environmental Decking or otherwise, please read below to make sure you are buying a durable decking system!
The word "composite" is defined as "a strong lightweight material developed in the laboratory; fibers of more than one kind are bonded together chemically."
In most cases "fibers of more than one kind" in reference to decking typically means wood and plastic. Many brands out there are wood-plastic composites, most of them are a blend of 50% plastic and 50% wood.
Why do composites fail? You have heard the saying "the chain is only as strong as its weakest link!" In this case, the weakest link is the wood fiber. The goal of a "wood plastic composite" is to encapsulate the wood fiber and completely coat the fiber in plastic. This is always the goal, but most often never the case. The wood fibers, some of which are still exposed on the surface of the board, through capillary action, take on the stains from water, BBQ grease, ketchup, wet leaves, bird droppings, leaving permanent stains in the deck. Because the product has wood fiber, the wood fiber allows mold to still grow on the decking. Also, because of the wood, the "composite" is still a source of food for termites, no matter the layer of plastic around the wood fiber.
The next question is if the wood fibers cause the board to fail, why do they use the wood fibers? The answer is simple, to keep the cost down on the product. If the solid board was made of all plastic, it would be even more expensive then it is already, and you, the consumer couldn't afford it.
Now, how does our product compare? And more importantly how does it differ? Trimax products are far superior to any composite on the market because unlike composites we are a high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic decking system with our own secret ingredient. The secret ingredient, fiberglass, helps to lighten and strengthen the board, while the plastic is durable, stain resistant, crack resistant and mold resistant. In order to make our product cost comparitive to others, we need to make the shape lighter, and in turn have a groove and groove decking that offers a hidden fastening system.
Trimax products will not dent, warp, crack or bend and never needs painting. Our products are environmentally safe, as well as, insect proof and free from mold and mildew build up. We believe in our product so much, we stand behind the product with a Limited 25 Year Warranty. By far, the best warranty in the business.
